Subject: Hamas’ political arm should be de-proscribed, Edinburgh candidate says
Dear Editor,
I thought Josh Pizzuto-Pomaco’s article about me and my election campaign to win Portobello/Craigmillar for the Workers Party GB was fair and accurate with just one exception. (see https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/26474762.hamas-political-arm-de-proscribed-edinburgh-candidate-says/ – if you are not a Herald subscriber, use this link https://archive.ph/02jGq )
As I explained to Josh after I’d read his article, Hamas didn’t kill 1,200 people on the 7th Oct; Israel did, through its Hannibal directive. It killed around 800 of them. They then blamed all the deaths on Hamas and our media swallowed up this claim, no questions asked.
One only has to look at the wrecks of the hundreds of vehicles in the 7th Oct Israeli scrapyard- these cars weren’t destroyed by guys on motorbikes with Kalashnikovs, but by Israeli Apache helicopters firing Hellfire missiles. Many IDF pilots publicly declare that the Hannibal directive went out at noon that day- they were told to destroy every vehicle heading to Gaza, most of which contained Israeli prisoners.

Why? Because at the time, the going exchange rate for an Israeli soldier was about 1,000 Palestinians. And Israel did not want ANY Israelis to be taken to Gaza. I have a lot more about this on my Substack at petegregson.substack.com. You can also see more on our website at www.onepalestine.land/hamas
Owen Jones did a good piece on the media bias favouring Israel a few days ago – see his video of 12th August- “BBC ADMITS Bias In Favour Of Israel – With ABSURD Defence” at www.tinyurl.com/BBCBiasForIsrael
If one considers that everything Israel says about Hamas is a lie, then one will observe that everything Hamas says is the truth; I haven’t seen them lie about anything- their figure of well over 73,000 killed in Gaza since 7th Oct 2023, is, according to the UN, correct. So I believe the Hamas account of 7th October and not what Israel/Wikipedia tells us. You can read their account of the 7th October in their submission to the UK government of last year, when they were seeking de-proscription; it’s at www.hamascase.com in the Volume 1 documents, “OPERATION TOOFAN AL-AQSA”.
BTW, if any of your readers would like to see my Hamas petition for themselves, they can do so going to www.tiny.cc/hamas
I’d like to conclude by stating that because Hamas are deemed terrorists, our UK Government continues to collude in a genocide. It is incumbent upon any government to prevent genocide, but by proscribing Hamas, who are fighting genocide, the proscription means we are undermining that fight. That, in itself, should be enough to demand de-proscription.
You see, the logic of Israeli Zionists runs along the lines of the “hurt bully syndrome”. It goes like this- “In order to take your home by force, I punch you. You punch back. I declare that you are not interested in making peace, so I keep punching you. The more you punch back, the more I am entitled to punch you, because it is obvious you do not want peace…”
The USA and the UK Governments accept this crazed logic, as does the EU.
Yours sincerely,
Pete Gregson
