Banned by the Guardian

On 17th July 2019, Steve Bell fired off an angry email to the Guardian after his latest If… cartoon strip was pulled. It was the third in a series, lampooning Tom Watson and his search for antisemitic tropes.

Here’s the email Steve sent to the Guardian, following their refusal to publish. The Guardian, it seems, feared legal action from Tom Watson MP if they proceeded. (Watson was at that time, Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, under Jeremy Corbyn. Watson was a child of the right- there to keep the blue Labour gang happy).

But for many years the Guardian has published Steve’s cartoons, which lampoon all politicians on a regular basis. Why make an exception to this one? It’s long been known that Guardian columnist Jonathan Freedland is a Zionist and he seems to be quite influential in the Guardian hierarchy. Might he have been behind spiking this? What is clear, though, is that the Guardian is fearful of its Zionist readers boycotting the paper. So much for impartiality!

Private Eye

On the subject of cartoons, Private Eye has published this cartoon from Bestie

Mind you, it was at Christmas time. Previously, they had published a nasty lampoon of Jewish Voice for Labour (JVL). Private Eye had completely ignored the whole bogus anti-Semitism charade until Corbyn announced he was standing down, and then in January 2020 they went nuts, parroting all the stupid things that the mainstream media said.

The cartoon strip declares [untruthfully] that JVL “are about as Jewish as a pork chop at a bar mitzvah”.

Many, including JVL and Pete Gregson, wrote into Private Eye(PE) to complain; their letters were never published. And in their Election Special of Dec 2019 PE described Chris Williamson as a “raving anti-Semite” which some of us also wrote in to complain about (our letters were again never published). Perhaps editor Ian Hislop was showing where his true loyalties lie.
